TEGNA Names Rebecca Cantu President and General Manager of KIII in Corpus Christi

Tysons, Virginia – (work wire) – TEGNA Inc. (NYSE: TGNA) today announced the appointment of Rebecca Canto as President and General Manager of KIII, a subsidiary of ABC Corporation in Corpus Christi, Texas. In this role, Kanto will be responsible for overseeing the station’s operations across all platforms as well as driving the station’s focus on community service and delivering results for local advertisers. Kanto will join the station on February 7 and succeed current president and general manager Bruce Cummings when he retires on March 4.

Kanto joined KIII from TEGNA KHOU Station in Houston where she held the positions of Director of Business Development and Community Marketing Specialist. During her 14-year tenure at KHOU, Kanto has led integrated marketing efforts across sales, content and marketing, managing up to 20 impactful initiatives annually that have supported the greater Houston community. Prior to KHOU, Kanto was the Public Affairs Coordinator for Special Projects for Randalls Food Markets, coordinating community partnerships, sponsorships, and special events for stores located in Houston and Austin.

Kanto graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations. She graduated from TEGNA’s Leadership Development Program in 2019. She has been a community and industry advocate, served on the DePelchin Children’s Center Board of Directors and served as Head of Communications, helped oversee the Council on Corporate Community Relations (CCRC) as Vice President, and served as a former member of the Houston Association of Professionals Hispanic media. Among her many awards and accomplishments, Kanto was honored in 2020 with the Star Award from the Media Alliance of Houston for Marketing/Promotion.
