KFC names Nick Chavez chief marketing officer

KFC Corporation has appointed Nick Chavez as Chief Marketing Officer for KFC US, effective November 29.

replace Andrea Zahuminsky, who left the company in April.

Chavez most recently served as Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Communications for Nintendo of America, where he served for more than 11 years. Before that he worked at Yahoo! Inc. , for over nine years, where his marketing roles included Vice President of Brand Marketing.

While at Nintendo, Chavez led sales and marketing for the Nintendo Switch game system, launching more than 200 games and helping advance the company’s marketing and digital commerce capabilities, according to a statement announcing Chavez’s appointment to his new role.

“Nick is a proven leader with a proven track record of demonstrating the smart, heartfelt leadership and courage needed at Yum! & KFC,” US KFC President Kevin Hochman said in the statement. “He has launched popular new products in a popular brand, and is an expert in moving bricks and shells retail. Mortar to e-commerce. His expertise will help us achieve the next chapter of growth at KFC.”

Chavez, left, said he is looking forward to his new job.

Kentucky Fried Chicken, a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, Inc. Headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, it has more than 24,000 restaurants worldwide, including about 4,000 in the United States.
