Seattle – (BUSINESS WIRE) – January 10, 2022 –

F5, Inc. has announced. (NASDAQ: FFIV) today announced the appointment of James Phillips, President of Microsoft’s Digital Transformation Platforms Group, to its Board of Directors. Phillips, 55, is joining the F5 Board of Directors effective January 5, 2022, and will be a member of the F5 Nominating Committee, Environment, Social and Governance (ESG).

In his current role, Phillips leads the Microsoft Digital Transformation Platform Group, a product development organization with more than 15,000 members on a global team. His team builds and operates Microsoft business applications and services; and the application platforms, integration, data, and intelligence beneath them – collectively supporting the digital transformation initiatives of some of the world’s largest organizations. Its product suite includes Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Azure AI Platform, Azure Data Platform, and Azure IoT Platform.

Phillips joined Microsoft in 2012 as a strategic advisor to Satya Nadella, then Head of Cloud and Enterprise at Microsoft. Prior to joining Microsoft, Phillips co-founded and served as CEO of several software companies; Held leadership positions in engineering, product management, corporate development, and marketing at Intel, VMware, and Synopsys; He spent two years as a technical investment banker with UBS PaineWebber advising public and private software companies on merger and acquisition strategy and implementation.

Phillips holds a BA in Mathematics from Louisiana State University and an MBA with honors from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.

The F5 Board of Directors is committed to adding powerful new voices through transformation. With the appointment of Phillips, F5’s board of directors expanded to 11 members, 10 of whom are independents.
