LONDON (Reuters) – WPP (WPP.L), the world’s largest advertising company, will become Coca-Cola’s global marketing network partner. The two companies said on Monday.

WPP CEO Mark Reed said in an email to employees sent to the media that WPP will handle Coca-Cola media in eight of its nine geographic operating units and the vast majority of its creative work.

“This is among our company’s greatest new business achievements ever, the biggest win in decades, and a wonderful endorsement of the new WPP we’ve built together over the past three years.”

The Coca-Cola Company said it has selected Japanese advertising group Dentsu (4324.T) as a complementary media partner in select markets where it has purchased distinct strengths.

Publicis Groupe (PUBP.PA) and IPG (IPG.N) in France in the United States performed very strongly during the review process and the agencies of both networks will be included in the strategic list of companies.

As such, Publicis and IPG will play key roles in an open source creative model that was expected to account for a third of all marketing work, Coca-Cola said.
