Barbados' destination marketing agency names new CEO: Travel Weekly

Jens Thraenhart has been appointed CEO of Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI), the destination marketing agency, effective November 1.

He succeeds William “Billy” Griffith, who served as CEO for six years and now chairs WCG Consulting Ltd. He is Chairman of the Council of Allied Members of the Caribbean Tourism Organization.

Threnhart, a German-Canadian tour practitioner, previously worked for Tourism Canada (now Destination Canada) and Fairmont Hotels & Resorts (now Accor).

Most recently he served as Executive Director of the Mekong Tourism Coordination Office, appointed by the six member governments of Southeast Asia for four consecutive two-year terms.
